How it works

The client sits or lies in a comfortable position, and then an accredited laser clinician applies the hand-piece over the treatment area. Pulses of safe filtered light are emitted that are selectively attracted to the pigment in hair (melanin) converting it to heat. The heat destroys the hair follicle’s feeder blood vessels and it's stem cells which are responsible for promoting hair growth, thus preventing any future hair growth.

What conditions is it good for?

As well as treating unwanted hair, many of our clients will have SIPL treatments to manage:

• pseudofolliculitis barbae, or ingrown hairs on the face and neck.
• Hirsutism or genetic predisposition for excessive hair
• Excess hair growth due to hormone imbalances.

Super Intense Pulsed Light systems have many advantages over laser and older IPL machines.

Electrolysis

This is a traditional method for permanent hair removal. It is great for smaller areas such as single, stubborn-to-remove hair on the chin, eyebrows and generally around the nipple. It can treat all hair colours, including blonde and white. Only sterile disposable probes used.

Of all the methods of permanent hair removal, electrolysis has been around the longest. It is very safe, reliable and effective, and is used by Facial Attraction Ivanhoe Clinic to address permanent hair removal for clients who cannot be addressed solely by new SIPL technology. ie. if the client has white/blond/colourless hairs to address.

How does it work?

Electrolysis works by delivering an electric current via a fine sterile needle into the hair follicle. This electric current destroys the cells responsible for hair growth.

At Facial Attraction we use “The Blend” Method. This method, sometimes called the Dual Action Method, alleviates the shortcomings of using individual techniques such as the galvanic or thermolysis method, whilst bolstering their advantages. This method means we can achieve a high clearance rate of typically over 85%.
